Oceania


Introduction To Oceania: Oceania is a region in the South Pacific, it includes the continent of Australia, and the large islands of New Zealand and half of Papua New Guinea. (pg.1)

 Physical Feature: Most of Australia is very flat, filled with plateaus and plains.Many of the islands in Oceania are very close to the equator.(pg.2)
 Climate in Oceania: Oceania has a tropical wet and dry climate. Much of the eastern coast has a humid subtropical climate, while the south has a Mediterranean climate. (pg.3)
 Vegetation: Oceania has a great variety of plants. The type of plant that grows in the area is dependent on the climate of the area. Australia has eight different vegetation areas. (pg.4)
 Countries: Oceania is made up of fourteen different countries. The smallest is Nauru, Made up of nine square miles, the largest is Australia.(pg.5)
 History Of Oceania: European explorers first started to explore the region of Oceania in the 1500s. Historians today think that the first people that migrated to Oceania were from Southwest Asia. (pg.6)
 Population: Seven of ten people in Oceania live in urbanized areas, although this can vary for different islands. (pg.7)
 Religion: In Oceania 80% of people are Christian. other religions include: Buddhism, Hinduism,Islam, Judaism, And Atheism.(pg.7)
 Farming: In the islands of Oceania subsistence farming is a big cash crop. They also have a large population of fish, and enough trees for the region to thrive in forestry. (pg. 8)
 Economic Activity: Australia is one of the leading productioners of diamonds throughout the world, they also have gold, silver, and copper. (pg. 8)
